What are EVO Helmets?
Evolution Helmets were unveiled at the Las Vegas HAI show in 2014 by Helicopter Helmets, LLC. Since then, Evolution Helmets have been the standard for what a Flight helmet should. Light, Innovation, comfortable and with good quality audio. In addition, the EVO Series of the flight helmet have been continued to be updated. In addition to the standard 300 lb pull chin strap strength, which some helmets do not meet, the EVO series flight helmet uses a magnetic release that exceeded breaking test to 525 lbs.
EVO helicopter pilot helmets were the first to introduce the cable quick disconnect so that no more adapters were necessary. With the EVO cable system, just select the connector that your aircraft requires and plug in and go. We have over 20 cables available and make them with the Fisher Plug, the Russian ZSH Plug, UK NATO and U.S. NATO Plug.
Evolution Helmets come in more colors that are no charged as "Extra" like other dealers. We have to paint the flight helmet anyway, so why charge for a standard color paint? Custom painting is also available thru Helmet FX.

The helicopter pilot helmet can contain a shield, a lining, an ear cup with optional edge protection that is appropriate to include impact safety, noise attenuation and maintenance of the retaining network, visor(s) and contact devices. Optional edge shielding is needed if the edge of the shell where the user will touch is smooth. -- the helicopter pilot helmet must have a protective surface (shell) with continuous contour at all points on or above the test line. The helmet shall be inspected to ensure that all components are present and free from any defects that would affect the proper functioning of the service.
Helicopter Helmet Visor System
One or two polycarbonate visors can be included with the helicopter pilot helmet. The visor assembly shall ensure that the visor lens stays in place when positioned in a completely deployed state. As mounted, the visor can provide the wearer with an unobstructed view of the aircraft instrumentation while ensuring glare cover for the view outside the aircraft. The visor shall be inspected to maintain compliance, ensuring that all parts are present and free from any faults that may have an effect on the proper operation of the device.
Sound System
The helmet must have a sound attenuation system for the wearer. Usually, the acoustic safety device consists of ear cups with headphones and comfortable ear pads for warmth. The ear cups provide proper acoustic protection and are placed within the exterior of the helmet. The attenuation mechanism is checked to ensure that it is free from any fault that may impair the proper operation of the service.
EVO Helicopter Helmet: Finding the Right Fit for Your Needs
Piloting a helicopter can be one of the most exhilarating experiences one can have. But to ensure safety and success, it’s important to have the right gear. This is where the EVO helicopter helmet comes in. Designed specifically for helicopter pilots, this helmet offers a suite of benefits that set it apart from other options on the market. Let’s explore the many advantages of the EVO helmet and why it might be the perfect fit for you.
Benefits of the EVO Helicopter Helmet
The EVO Helmet is packed with features that make it a top choice for pilots. One of its most significant benefits is its compatibility with a wide range of communication systems. Whether you need to connect with air traffic control, your co-pilot, or other pilots in your fleet, the EVO Helmet has you covered. It also features an integrated visor that provides unrivaled peripheral vision and protection from the elements.
Tried, Tested, and True Quality
When it comes to your safety, quality is key. The EVO Helmet is built with the highest standards in mind, thanks to its rigorous testing and certification processes. It’s been tested to meet or exceed various safety standards, including those set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). With an EVO Helmet, you can trust that you’re getting a product that has been tried, tested, and proven to be safe and reliable.
Heavy Duty and Safety Oriented
One of the impressive features of the EVO Helmet is its durability. It’s built to withstand the extreme conditions that helicopter pilots can face, including high altitude, low temperatures, and intense turbulence. The helmet shell is constructed from Kevlar, a material known for its strength and durability. The result is a helmet that provides superior protection from impact and punctures.
Comfortable and Stylish
The EVO Helmet isn’t just about function, however–it’s also a stylish piece of gear. With its sleek design and customizable color options, it’s a helmet that looks as good as it performs. But just as importantly, the EVO Helmet is also comfortable to wear. It features an interior lining that molds to your head for a perfect fit. This ensures that you don’t have to sacrifice style or comfort for safety.
Totally Customizable
The EVO Helmet is no one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, it can be built to be completely customizable to meet the unique needs of each individual pilot. This includes not just color options, but also the ability to add on additional accessories like ear cups or comms systems. With the EVO Helmet, you can create a helmet that’s perfect for your specific needs and preferences.
Mental Clarity and Confidence
While it may seem like a small thing, having the right gear can make a big difference in your ability to perform at your best. The EVO Helmet can give you the mental clarity and confidence you need to focus on piloting. With its superior design and safety features, you can fly knowing that you’re protected and prepared for any conditions you may encounter.
How to Choose the Right EVO Helicopter Helmet
With so many options for EVO helicopter helmets on the market, it can be daunting to choose the right one that meets your specific needs. Here are some of the top factors to consider when it comes to choosing the right EVO helicopter helmet for your circumstances.
Consider the Frequency and Duration of Travel
The first factor to consider when choosing an EVO helmet is how often you’ll be flying and for how long. If you’re a professional pilot logging long hours, it’s essential to choose a helmet that will provide all-day comfort. Additionally, a helmet with integrated noise-canceling headphones can reduce fatigue and improve communication—an essential feature for those flying commercially.
On the other hand, if you’re someone who only flies occasionally for recreational purposes, you can save money by choosing a basic EVO helmet that doesn’t have as many advanced features. However, even if you’re not a professional pilot, we always recommend choosing a helmet with good ventilation and lightweight materials to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
Consider Your Needs
Next, it’s important to consider your individual needs and requirements when choosing an EVO helmet. If you have a large head, you’ll need to choose a helmet that comes in a larger size. If you wear glasses, make sure the helmet has enough room and won’t dig into your nose. Additionally, if you’re someone who experiences vertigo or motion sickness, it might be worth looking for a helmet with a clear visor to provide better visibility and reduce nausea.
Consider Communication Demands
Clear communication is essential when flying a helicopter, especially when flying as part of a team or when you need to speak to ground control. EVO helmets that offer integrated communication systems can come at a higher cost, but they can make a significant difference in safety and convenience. Before purchasing a helmet with a communication system, make sure it is compatible with the equipment you're using.
Move to the Front with a Custom EVO Helicopter Helmet
If you’re looking for a high-end EVO helmet and none of the off-the-shelf options meet your needs, we recommend exploring custom options. A custom EVO helmet will be specifically tailored to your unique needs–and comes in a wide variety of vibrant colors. It's a significant investment, but custom helmets come with custom colors and design options to meet your style preference–and a number of customization aspects, from chinstraps and earwear to visors and audio systems.
